IBA Project Team Leads Historic One Billionth Record Processing for TRICARE Management Activity
FALLS CHURCH, VA, June 30, 2010 –
Project teams from Irving Burton Associates, Inc. (IBA) are celebrating a milestone achievement in leading the efforts in support of the billionth record processed for the TRICARE Management Activity and the Military Health System. Using the TRICARE Encounter Data (TED) records processing helps civilian providers get paid promptly for the services they provide to TRICARE beneficiaries outside of military treatment facilities. TRICARE is the worldwide health care plan for 9.6 million eligible beneficiaries of the uniformed services, retirees and their families.
Project teams from IBA, a global professional and technical services firm, have led all project development, implementation and sustainment of TED since it was first conceived in 2000. In 2008, the IBA project team led the rapid migration of TED onto more secure and robust hardware resulting in significant improvements to TED processing times from 22 hours to just over three hours per cycle, one of the fastest claims processing systems in the world.
"We are extremely proud of the hard work done by the project teams from IBA who have supported the continued success of TED for the TRICARE Management Activity and the Military Health System," said IBA President Anna Ryan. "IBA is honored to support the development and implementation of increasing improvements to TRICARE that result in improved delivery of vital health care services to the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines protecting our nation, their families and retirees."
The TED records, collects, verifies and tracks billions of dollars annually in purchased care claims and encounter data for TRICARE and the Military Health System. The TED record processes over 700,000 health care records and since its full implementation in 2004, has processed over $140 billion of purchased care services for TMA beneficiaries worldwide. In most cases, TED records are processed for provider payments in less than 24 hours. The ease and speed of the TED system gives providers an incentive to participate in TRICARE. Increased participation in TRICARE networks provides beneficiaries better access to health care.
